ULAB’s MSJ Department Hosts Alumni Formation Summer 2026
The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized MSJ Alumni Formation: Summer 2026 on Friday at the Forum Hall of the university's permanent campus.
The programme, hosted by Suraiya Rahman, brought together graduating students, faculty members, and alumni representatives to formally welcome Summer 2026 graduating students into the MSJ Alumni Association and strengthen professional networking and engagement within the department.
The programme began with alumni registration followed by an interactive segment titled Letter to My Future Self, during which graduates wrote letters to their future selves.
The formal session began with a welcoming speech by Prof. Din M. Sumon Rahman, PhD, Professor & Head, Department of Media Studies and Journalism, and Dean, School of Social Sciences, ULAB, followed by certificate handover and speeches from faculty members. In his remarks, Professor Rahman emphasized the importance of staying focused while pursuing goals and continued engagement with the university.
“You can always knock on our doors for any kind of help,” he said.
The session also featured graduates from both the Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) programme and the Master of Communication programme sharing reflections on their academic journey and future aspirations. They also outlined their vision for future initiatives focused on mentorship, professional development, and strengthening connection between alumni and current students.
One of the undergraduate speakers, Al Mahmud Eakram Shoumik, became emotional while recounting his journey at ULAB, reflecting on the challenges and growth that shaped his university experience.
“Our professors have been very supportive throughout this journey, making it easier for us than expected,” said Al Eakram Mahmud Shoumik.
The programme concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, Associate Professor, marking the successful formation of the Summer 2026 MSJ alumni cohort.
“Being graduates does not mean our relationship ends here,” said Shazzad Sir. “We look forward to seeing you at future seminars and workshops. This shared journey wasn't only memorable for you; it was memorable for us as well,” he added.
