ULAB Faculty Retreat 2026 Highlights Collective Vision for a Future-Ready University

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held its Faculty Retreat 2026 at CCULB Resort on August 21–22, bringing faculty members together to reflect on the university’s journey and envision its future. The retreat featured an address by Kazi Anis Ahmed, PhD, President of the Board of Trustees, highlighting ULAB’s founding vision and values. A cultural evening showcased faculty talents through poetry, music, drama, recitation, and creative performances, with the combined GED and CLS team emerging as the winner. Outstanding participants were also recognised through the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards and honourable mentions.

A key focus was ULAB’s strategic direction and its vision of becoming a future-ready university, with capability development as its signature pedagogy. Subcommittees presented recommendations based on two months of collective work, which will contribute to the university’s draft strategy and future implementation initiatives. Prof. Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, emphasised collective vision, capability development, academic excellence, and institutional innovation as key priorities. The Directorate of Academic Affairs, Office of Faculty Research, and Centre for Teaching and Learning will collaborate to strengthen ULAB’s teaching and research ecosystem.

Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees and Treasurer; Lt. Col. Md. Foyzul Islam (Retd.), Registrar; deans, heads of departments, and senior officials were also present. The retreat highlighted upcoming HR and academic policy reforms, research rewards, internationalisation, the new ULAB website, VR campus mapping, and the AI-based EduSight system. The programme concluded with renewed optimism and a shared commitment to building a future-ready ULAB through the collective talent and goodwill of its people.
