ULAB Participates in International Dialogue on AI and Higher Education

Two representatives from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza and Dewan Shahnoor Alam Sourav, participated in an international dialogue on “AI and Higher Education,” held under the Chatham House Rule at Le Merdian Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 6–9 August 2026.

The dialogue brought together higher-education leaders and experts from the United States and Southeast Asia to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping universities. Discussions addressed institutional transformation, student agency, assessment and academic integrity, graduate preparedness, and strategic priorities for building AI-ready universities.

Professor Mortuza is an alumnus of the Hollings Center for International Dialogue. He previously contributed to the Center’s Higher Education Consortium for South Asia through programmes organized in Istanbul and Boston. ULAB’s participation reflects its growing commitment to becoming an AI-augmented, future-ready university while safeguarding academic quality, human agency, and the broader educational mission of higher education.
