ULAB VC Participated in Chinese Bridge Programme at Yunnan University and Signed Strategic MoU
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is pleased to share that Vice Chancellor Professor Shamsad Mortuza participated in the five-day 2026 “Chinese Bridge” Programme at Yunnan University, China, as part of a high-powered nine-member delegation of Bangladeshi educators led by Professor Mamun Ahmed, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
The programme, which concluded on June 27, 2026, was hosted by the School of International Education, Yunnan University, and jointly sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China’s Ministry of Education and Yunnan University. It was aimed at strengthening educational cooperation between Yunnan University and leading educational institutions in Bangladesh. Among the delegates were the vice chancellors of Dhaka University, North South University, Independent University Bangladesh, Chittagong Independent University, and Thakurgaon University, as well as the director general of the International Mother Language Institute.
A major highlight of Professor Mortuza’s visit was the signing of a five-year Memorandum of Understanding between ULAB and Yunnan University. The MoU was signed by Professor Ma Wenhui, President of Yunnan University, and Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Vice Chancellor of ULAB.
Yunnan University is a prestigious “Double First-Class” university and is ranked among the top 34 universities in China. ULAB and Yunnan University will collaborate on student and faculty mobility, AI curriculum integration, knowledge transfer, academic resource sharing, and Chinese and Bangla language teaching.
The MoU marks an important step in ULAB’s ongoing internationalisation agenda and its commitment to future-ready education, multilingual competence, global partnerships, and cross-cultural academic exchange.
During the visit, Professor Mortuza was also invited by PowerChina to visit its Sector 14 Regional Office to explore possible projects and areas of collaboration that may be beneficial to ULAB.
ULAB warmly congratulates Professor Mortuza on this important international engagement and looks forward to translating the Yunnan University partnership and related China-based institutional connections into meaningful opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers, and the wider ULAB community.
