Chinese Delegation Visits ULAB to Explore Academic and Research Collaboration
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted a visit from a distinguished Chinese delegation associated with Tongji University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Yunnan University, Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, and Centre for China Studies on 9 May 2026 to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships, and international engagement. During the visit, the delegates toured the campus and attended a cultural program organized by ULAB Shangskriti Shangshad.
A formal meeting was later held at the university’s Board Room, attended by Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, and members of the Chinese delegation. The delegation included Chen Dongxiao (President of SIIS and Chairman of the CCS Academic Board), Liu Zongyi (Senior Research Fellow and Director of South Asia Studies), along with nine other representatives, making a total of 11 members. In his presentation, the Vice Chancellor highlighted ULAB’s history, achievements, and vision of becoming an AI-integrated, technology-driven university, while discussions focused on joint research, academic collaboration, and faculty-student exchange programs.
The Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in long-term cooperation through joint research, academic programs, and student and faculty exchange initiatives. The visit concluded with mutual optimism and a shared commitment to strengthening academic and cultural ties between Ulab and China.
