National Mourning Day observed at ULAB

On the occasion of National Mourning Day, the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh held a session at its own campus in Dhanmondi on 13 August observing 40th year of Martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day. ULAB Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam conducted the ceremony. Professor H.M. Jahirul Haque, Pro-Vice Chancellor of ULAB, delivered the welcome speech along with one minute silence, which was followed by a rendition of "Shono ekti Mujiborer theke" by the ULAB Shangskriti Shangsad. national-mourning-day-2015-03national-mourning-day-2015-02national-mourning-day-2015-01 Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, and Member, ULAB Board of Trustees, delivered a somber speech at the program. In the speech, he highlighted different aspects of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman's life's ideals. He especially mentioned the immense sacrifices made by the Father of the Nation. He called on today's youth to build up their lives in the light of Bangabandhu's life, and encouraged everyone to read Bangabandhu's biography from various books and other resources. Among ULAB Faculty members, Dr. Tapati Rani Sarkar, Professor Kazi Madina and Lecturer Ms. Arzoo Ismail recited poems in the ceremony. ULAB Deputy Registrar of Admissions Mohammad Zamal Uddin Bhuiyan also recited a poem. The program concluded with a performance of "Ei Padma, ei Meghna" by ULAB Shangskriti Shangsad. Among others, ULAB Board of Trustees Members; Registrar Lt Col Md. Foyzul Islam; faculty members; admin members and students of ULAB were present in the program.
