Ongoing Research and Projects supervised (Related to CCA): - Research on Social dimensions of climate-induced migration: The case of the char-islands in Bangladesh by Marie-Pierre Arseneault, visiting researcher, ISD.
- Research entitled: Exploring the issue of environmental migration through discursive practices by Alice Baillat, visiting researcher, ISD.
- Research entitled: Exploring the pattern of Environmental migration in Bangladesh by David Méchin, visiting researcher, ISD.
- CapAdapt is a large-scale project that will be undertaken by ISD and aimed at understanding the capability of people to adapt to climate change. It will include 25 researchers and initially will include 3 countries for research.

EXTERNAL INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT - Proposal of Activities for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, Plan Bangladesh and Islamic Relief, December - January 2010, Dhaka, BANGLADESH Supported the design of a 2 year program to respond to the Climate Change effects in both rural and urban areas in Bangladesh. Together with the relevant staff of both INGOs, designed propositions, logical frameworks, budgets and action plans. Organised different workshops and meetings have been organised to ensure that institutional knowledge has been properly used. LEAD RESEARCHER - Development Studies-Gender Issues, University of Liberal Arts of Bangladesh (ULAB) and the Spanish Embassy, October - January 2010, Dhaka, BANGLADESH Empowered the research of 14 students on gender issues on the impact of the Garment industries on women conditions in Bangladesh. The result was multi-media exhibition entitled "The Threaded Resort". The research aimed at evaluating the impact of the garment factories on the social model and gender determinism in Bangladesh looking mainly to the opportunities of the female workers and to monitor their emancipation through the access to an income and a status of worker. WORKSHOP TEAM LEADER - BASELINE SURVEY MAIN FINDING SHARINGS CCDRR project and INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT, Plan International Bangladesh, December 2009, Dhaka and Barguna, BANGLADESH Organized a participative workshop and to prepare modules as handouts to facilitate the transmission of the main findings of the baseline. TEAM LEADER- BASELINE and ENDLINE SURVEY CCDRR project and INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT, Plan International Bangladesh, October to December 2009, Dhaka and Barguna, BANGLADESH Management and development of a set of tools to: - understand the present situation as per project
- assess the capacity and training needs of the project beneficiaries
- measure changes in situation due to project activities.
- assess successes and failures of the project after completion
- increase the capacity of the project staff in conducting base and end line study though involving them in the process.
The baseline survey aimed at analyzing experiences of/by vulnerable girls and boys before, during and after disasters and their roles with emphasis on early warning. A set of indicators has been created from a bottom-up approach to measure the resilience of schools and communities to disasters before and after the project intervention. Frequent visits in the fields and liaising with different stakeholders ensured the smoothly progress of the baseline. At the end of the baseline recommendations have been addressed and an action plan draft to improve the rationale as the M&E matrix of this current pilot project.
CONSULTANT, Solidarités, May - July 2009, Dhaka, BANGLADESH Mid-term assignment in Teknaf in order to assess the humanitarian needs in the area, to design a logical framework and to write a comprehensive report to enable the INGO to propose a program to ECHO. KAP surveys, interviews, group discussions, SWOT analysis and mapping of the area were done in order to finalize the report. A research that especially focuses on the Social Cohesion and inherent Solidarity System has been submitted as well. CONSULTANT MODERATOR, GTZ, March 2009, Dhaka, BANGLADESH Short assignment regarding the evaluation and moderation of bottom-up feedback, the objective was to conduct the bottom-up feedback with office and projects teams and their superiors and to carry out the bottom-up feedback with supportive staff in a interactive and vivid way through group discussions and interviews. AWARENESS, EVALUATION AND EDUCATION MANAGER, Solidarités and INTERIM AWARENESS AND EVALUATION COORDINATOR FOR DARFUR, December 2007 - October 2008, Darfur, SUDAN Management: Developed and managed awareness and education activities, especially focusing and encouraging community participation in Solidarités’ interventions to increase impact in the region (Nertiti, Jebel Mara). I supervised and trained 12 national staff directly and recruited team staff focusing on national staff capacity and skills transfer to create effective national staff autonomy. I defined, readjusted job descriptions, and carried out regular staff evaluation, monitoring staff in reaching objectives according to mission intervention strategy. I managed staff to ensure they utilised standardized program evaluation tools and wrote weekly reports; designed new health promotion tools. I promoted sustainable adoption of appropriate public health behaviours concerning risky behaviours in health, hygiene, housing practices, sanitation etc. I implemented latrines building campaign according to the SPHERE criteria in the Nertiti camps. I Improved access to knowledge (qualitative and quantitative access to education facilities) for diverse communities in Nertiti, rural areas and Jebel Mara, using SMART surveys measuring Solidarites’ impact; I developed and proposed new tools for analysis while moving the program from awareness to prevention. Reporting: Write program relevant reports, covering monitoring, evaluation, and security related issues, salient issues with the local authorities, tensions among communities, needs surveys, KAP surveys; I submitted monthly reports to UNICEF, the Sudan HAC (Humanitarian Aid Commission) and Sudanese technical ministries; submitted technical and non-technical reports for donor reporting. Budgeting: I IR-Bned, ordered, and followed up purchases on education and awareness budget, closely monitoring budget, setting up monthly cash flow requests and ensured the budget met objectives and activities defined in monthly purchase IR-Bs and the proposals. Logistic/Procurement: I wrote service contracts, followed up contractors, purchased building and education materials according to logistic and procurement policies. LIAISON AND REPORTING OFFICER, INTERIM PROGRAM COORDINATOR, Solidarités, August 2007 - December 2008; South Darfur, SUDAN Served as the main negotiation interface for a critical relationship between Solidarités and Sudanese authorities (HAC, Ministries...) participating in coordination meeting with INGOs and Sudanese authorities; writing new proposals and design 2008’s strategy. Trained national staff on writing processes and reporting; train expatriates on donor reports; and liaised closely with different donors (DFID, OFDA, ECHO, DAH) supporting Solidarités in Sudan.
