Orientation: The first week of each term, a general orientation and departmental-specific orientations are held to familiarize the students on the values, rules, regulations, and facilities of the university and introduce them to the faculties and senior students. On-Going Support: ULAB has a Faculty Advising system, whereby each student is assigned a faculty adviser who meets the student twice a term. This adviser guides the student through the curriculum, helps them choose courses, and gives them a chance to resolve any issues in a supportive environment. Language Club: The ULAB Language Club ensures students can practice their knowledge in English outside the classroom environment. Internships: Both the Business Administration and Media Studies and Journalism Departments require internships for its students. An Internship Adviser assists in securing the internships and monitoring and evaluating the students throughout the process. Proctors: ULAB has a Proctor and Assistant Proctors who monitor and handle violations to ULAB's Code of Conduct. Student disputes can be resolved in a systematic way via the Proctorship. Online Services: ULAB provides online course registration and grade submission. Students can access their grades via the ULAB Web Portal. Web Portal: ULAB has the only Web 2.0-based web portal of any university in Bangladesh, allowing students and faculty social networking facilities, online grade access, blogging, wiki, and forums. Alumni: Being a young university, ULAB has a small but growing group of alumni. To serve their needs, an alumni association is in the process of being set up. Career Services: ULAB has a dedicated ULAB Career Services Center (UCSC), which provides students soft skills needed for the job market. The Center offers specialized courses and trainings on Career Planning, Leadership, Motivation etc., and assists in internship placement. UCSC also offers trainings and resources for students and alumni to develop appropriate skills and strategies that lead to successful careers, and the means for employers to access qualified, well-prepared candidates to meet their specific skill sets requirements. UCSC is committed to assisting students and alumni in developing, evaluating, and implementing career decisions and plans. From the day they start classes, students are encouraged to take advantage of the many services offered through this center. The center assists students with internships to gain work experience in addition to placement supports even for the alumni. Different workshops and seminars are organized by UCSC for the benefit of ULAB students where renowned corporate figures share their ideas and experiences with the audience. |
