Past Initiatives

1. Research Methodology Workshop

The Centre has so far organized two workshops on Research Methods for Business and Social Sciences, one in August 2008 and another in March, 2009. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, a Professor and the Chair of Marketing, Pen State University at Erie, USA conducted both the workshops. A large number of young faculty and researchers from different private and public universities, research organizations and NGOs participated in the workshops.

The workshops offered a practical, hands-on initiation into research. Research proposals have been developed by the participants on an active participation basis and these proposals have the potential of ending up as an international publication or Ph.D. proposals.

2. Research Adda

Research Aadda is an innovative process to aid the researchers in Bangladesh. In an Adda researchers from multi-disciplines would gather and discuss different aspects of research they are engaged in or are planning to do in the near future. Basic focus in the Adda is to bring into attention various technical problems the researchers might be facing while doing research and their solutions from the peers and experts. Building network and creating a pool of researchers of different academic and research organizations at national and international levels would be the final objective of the Adda.

Few of such Addas were organized with the presence of distinguished academic and media personalities like Prof. Nazrul Islam, Chairman of the University Grants Commission Bangladesh, Mr. Matiur Rahman, Editor of the Daily Prothom Alo, Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb of Pen State Erie, Prof. Farhat Anwar of IBA, Dhaka University, Dr. S.I.
