ULAB Fair Play Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament concludes with win for DIU, ULAB Runners Up. The 3rd annual ULAB Fair Play Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament was won by Daffodil International University on January 27, 2010 at ULAB's tournament-standard sized cricket field in Ramchandrapur, Mohammadpur. University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) was runner up and State University of Bangladesh (SUB) was 3rd prize holder. In all, six private university teams played in the tournament: BRAC University, Daffodil International University, North South University, Stamford University, State University of Bangladesh, and ULAB.
ULAB hosts the tournament every year to promote sportsmanship and friendly competition among the private universities. The previous year's winner was State University of Bangladesh; and the inaugural year was won by ULAB itself.
Wining the toss, Daffodil University chose to bat and scored 104/9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply ULAB scored 81 runs but lost 10 wickets and lost by 23 runs. Man of the Tournament was Razaur Rahman Rohan of SUB for his 129 runs and 4 wickets. Man of the Final was DIU's own Shahinul Islam Imon for his 32 runs. The Best Fielder trophy went to Ifty Islam of ULAB for his 6 wickets, 5 run-outs, and 2 catches. The Best Bowler was Islamul Ahnsan Abir of DIU for getting 7 wickets. The Best Batsman was again SUB's Rohan for his 129 runs. DIU won Tk. 30,000 as 1st prize money, and ULAB won Tk. 20,000 for 2nd place. There were smaller cash prizes for the other trophy winners.
The Tournament was held from January 21-27, 2010. Live scores were posted on ULAB's website (http://www.ulab.edu.bd) during the games. Chief Guest of the Final Ceremony was ULAB Board of Governors President Mr. Kazi Shahid Ahmed. Special Guests were Professor Aminul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU; Professor Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of ULAB; and Professor Imran Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of ULAB.
