Concern Universal Bangladesh and ULAB Sign MOU on Disaster Risk Reduction Video Documentation -

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Concern Universal Bangladesh (CUB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on producing a video documentary on community stakeholders’ perceptions on disaster risk reduction this February 2, 2010.  The signing took  place in Room 601, Campus A, ULAB.  The project will have main four activities to include: an orientation seminar on disaster risk reduction and climate change; seminar on project documentation; video documentary production and video documentary exhibition.

The video documentary is expected to generate quality process documentation that will facilitate replication of good practices and lessons learnt for other disaster risk reduction actors and practitioners across the globe. Students enrolled in ULAB’s "Television Production Skills" course, supervised by filmmaker Razibul Hossain, will plan and produce the said documentary.

The documentary will explore the perceptions of community stakeholders in Concern Universal’s Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Project in Pathuakali and Barguna, Barisal with regards to their roles and responsibilities, expectations, experiences as change agents and the challenges being faced.

Vice Chancellor Rafiqul Islam and Country Director Stephane Bonduelle signed the document in behalf of ULAB and CUB, respectively.

CUB has disaster risk reduction as one of its key programs.  It aims to develop and strengthen institutions, mechanisms and capacities at all levels, in particular at the community level, which can systematically contribute to building resilience to hazards.  ULAB, on the other hand, is an institution devoted to developing young minds to their fullest potential through the free and creative pursuit of knowledge. Alongside such intellectual growth, the institution is firmly committed to helping the young men and women to become responsible and caring citizens of their nation and the world.
