ULAB organized its Spring 2012 Freshers' orientation on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at its own Dhanmondi campus. Emphasizing ULAB's missions of sustainability, active learning and liberal arts practice, the orientation consisted of mixed media and video presentations about ULAB's mission, code of conduct, handbook, library, career service center and other facilities. Quiz games were sprinkled throughout presentations to encourage learning through fun.

Later, the formal part of the ceremony was held with the theme of “Truth." ULAB Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman addressed the students to reach this truth through knowledge and welcomed the students and then introduced the heads of each department. Vice President of the Board of Trustees Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed also spoke, challenging the students to have personal initiative and to take advantage of all the facilities ULAB has to offer.

Heads of Departments Dr. Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, Dr. Jude Genilo, Dr. Sazzad Hossain, and Dr. A.H.M. Asadul Huq and senior faculties were present in the program.

Later in the day, a concert with student band "Velvet Wings" was arranged to welcome the Freshers to the university.

ULAB Vice President of the Board of Trustees Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed addresses students at the ULAB Freshers’ Orientation Spring 2012 on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

BBA Freshman Orientation for Spring 2012 will be on Monday, 30 January 2012, at 2pm, in the ULAB auditorium.

ULAB Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) and Sustainable Development (SD) Club going to organize 3days long workshop on safety and disaster preparedness in urban setting. Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence will facilitate this workshop in ULAB, which will cover

i. Training on First Aid ii. Training on earthquake search and rescue (& safety) & iii. Fire safety & fire drill.

After this 3days long workshop, each of the participants will become officially certified volunteer of Bangladesh Government. Moreover, our ULAB will get a strong team capable to tackle emergencies in need.
