ULAB Organises Forum on the State and Future of Business Journalism in Bangladesh.


The Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) Department of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (www.ulab.edu.bd) will organize a Business Journalism Forum on April 7, 2011 to discuss the issues relating to business journalism practices and its future in Bangladesh. The programme will take place from 02:00 to 04:00 pm at the ULAB Auditorium on Campus A (House-56, Road-4/A, Satmosjid Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1209).

In the age of rapid globalization where the nature of business and finance has been changed, journalists need to explore new ways to cover business news. Bangladesh is no exception to this global phenomenon. The forum will focus on the state and potential of business journalism in Bangladesh - both as a profession and an academic stream. It will also entail case study presentation(s) on the Daily Star Business Page in order to encapsulate how business journalism evolved in the context of Bangladesh and its future courses.

Mr. Ajoy Das Gupta Assistant Editor Dainik Samakal newspaper will tackle the issue of Business Journalism: State and Potential as a Profession while Mr. Masud Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer, Department of Communication & Media, Independent University will discuss Business Journalism: State and Potential as an Academic Stream.  Mr. Arun Devnath, Business Editor of The Daily Star will share his experience on The Daily Star Business Page: A Case in View.

Mr. Jude Genilo, Head of the Media Studies and Journalism Department, ULAB will give address of welcome while Mr Md Asiuzzaman, Assistant Professor, Media Studies and Journalism Department, ULAB will make opening remarks and introduce the panelists.  
Mr Hillol Sohban will sum up the discussion and end the programme with closing remarks.

ULAB Students especially from the MSJ and BBA are invited to attend the Forum.
