| BIID-ULAB Sign MOU on ICT for Development |

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and the Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID) will sign on August 24, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., a Memorandum of Understanding on creating and promoting knowledge on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development at Room 601, Campus A, ULAB. Both organizations believe that ICT is an effective tool in spurring development in Bangladesh given its interactivity, growing accessibility and ability to share information from many-to-many. Concretely, both organizations aim to collaborate on research projects and jointly publish a Working Paper Series on ICT for Development.
The quarterly Working Paper Series journal seeks to articulate, capture and document success stories, best practices, lessons learnt and shortcomings of projects in developing countries concerning using ICT for development purposes. The panel of editors includes distinguished academics from all over the world, including M. Asaduzzaman, Michel Gurstain, Tim Unwin, Jude Genilo, Charletto Rome and Md. Shahid Uddin Akbar. Assistant editors are Mahfuz Ashraf, Liton Chakraborty and Abdullah Al Mamun. The coordinator of the Working Paper Series is Sajid Mobarak Hossain.
Vice Chancellor Rafiqul Islam and Chief Executive Officer Md. Shahid Uddin Akbar will sign the document in behalf of ULAB and BIID, respectively. The BIID is an institution that supports the development and promotion of ICT-based services in Bangladesh through continuous knowledge management, innovation and development. ULAB, on the other hand, is an institution devoted to developing young minds to their fullest potential through the free and creative pursuit of knowledge. Alongside such intellectual growth, the institution is firmly committed to helping the young men and women to become responsible and caring citizens of their nations and the world.
