ULABDC, the Debating Club of ULAB, has organized an inter university debate competition for the first time. The competition is going to accommodate eight university teams in Bangla Debate, and four in English Debate. Bangladesh Debate Federation (BDF) is going assist the event by providing experienced judges and trainers.

The competition starts at 3 pm on Wednesday, August 12, with preliminary rounds of English Debate; and offers a full day,- Friday, August 14, pact with Bangla Debates of preliminary rounds from 10 am to 6 pm; and finally closes with two grand finals on Sunday, August 16, 2009, from 4 pm to 6 pm. All the venues are located in the Campus A of ULAB, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

Other than University of Liberal Arts- the host-university, and Jahangirnagar University, most of the participating teams will be representing the universities located in Dhanmondi,  including United International University, Stamford University Bangladesh, Northern University etc. The tournament will cover debates on subcontinent and global issues.
 

Wednesday schedule:

Opening Ceremony: 2.45 pm
Venue: Auditorium.

English Debate # 1:  Stamford vs. ULAB 1
Motion:  This house believes that Bangladesh should allow transit facilities to India now.
Venue: Auditorium
Declaration of Stand:  3 pm
Debate starts at 4.15 pm, ends at 5.15 pm.


English Debate # 2:  UIU  vs. ULAB 2
Motion: This house would stop foreign funding of Madrasahs.
