| FICC 2nd Round begins August 8 at ULAB |

Bangladesh's first ever IT based business solution competition began its second round at ULAB. A total 54 teams from 20 universities are participating to this battle of talents.
FICC is organized by D.Net in association with Citi Foundation and ULAB and it requires both business and IT expertise to solve any given problem. The champion team will be awarded USD 5,000 whereas 1st and 2nd runner up USD 2,000 and USD 1,000 respectively.
Professor Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor, ULAB has said, “It is indeed a great opportunity for us to host the FICC. We need efficient people for the industry and in this regard this kind of competition will certainly help to produce quality human resource.”
The contest aims to culture innovation, creativity and thus productivity through industry and academic collaboration in software solution development for the financial institutions
It will help bring the awareness of needs for innovation which is the heart of the development and thereof business Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain ULAB Head of Computer Science and Engineering.

Citibank has already planned this FICC as the annual event. All teams presented their solutions and ideas at the 1st round on 11 July 2009 at ULAB before the Jury panel. Qualified teams from the 1st round are presenting their 2nd round on 8 August 2009 at ULAB before the Jury panel. Final teams from the 2nd round present their solution on 29 August 2009 at the Gala round and winners are declared.
The Fifty-four teams are from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the University of Dhaka, BRAC University, Daffodil Institute of IT, Daffodil International University, East West University, Eastern University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of DU, Institute of Science and Technology, International Islamic University, Chittagong, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, North South University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, South East University, The University of Asia Pacific, United International University, and the University of Liberal Arts.
The competition, funded by Citi Foundation and organized by D.NET, will be the first of its kind in Bangladesh with aims to devise software solution for financial institutions and enhance sharing knowledge about business technology and management.
