ULAB will launch the country’s first campus radio called "ULAB Radio Campbuzz" on 16 October 2011, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The station will be on air from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunday to Wednesday, and will be heard simultaneously in the public spaces of both campuses.  The objectives of ULAB Radio Campbuzz are to serve as a learning facility for radio production, broadcasting and management; and to bring the ULAB community closer through the use of this communication medium.

With the tagline "Be the Buzz," the radio station will offer a host of programs to include "ULAB News," "World Music" and "ULAB Lifestyle."  The station management team includes Sadia Doha (General Manager), Ariful Islam Arman (Assistant General Manager), Arefin Islam (Assistant General Manager), Mehdiur Rahman (Research & Development Manager), Ishita Sharmin Rayhan (Programming Manager) and Tusher Nabi Khan (Operations Manager). 

 

The team has been training and preparing for its initial broadcast for the past several months.  The faculty adviser is ULAB Lecturer Imtiaz Chowdhury.  Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Imran Rahman will officially launch the event and declare its opening "on air" at exactly 10:00 a.m. at the Campus B Lobby.

ULAB Radio Campbuzz is one of the Media Studies and Journalism Department's Apprenticeship Programs.  The other programs are ULABian Campus Paper, Film and Photography Apprenticeships.  The department is preparing two new programs - ULAB Television and the online publication ULAB Business News Digest.
