In May 2011, a group of ULAB students travelled to one of Bangladesh’s most exceptional places, Halda River in Chittagong- the only tidal river natural carp breeding ground in the world. Over several days, the students accompanied local fishermen collecting and hatching the eggs of the carp. ULAB is please to present the results, 32 unique photos documenting the indigenous practices of the fisher folk and the relationship between humans and water in Bangladesh. The exhibition, which through the fusion of art and environment provides new ways of perception, however also intends to raise awareness for the fragility of this ecosystem.

Aside from the photography exhibition, ULAB Senior Lecturer Razibul Hossain, together with students, will conduct a visual presentation about the recent situation in the Halda River.  The presentation will be held in the second day of the event, July 24, 10:40 a.m.  ULAB’s MSJ Department is proud to participate in this event.
