Banglapedia Comes to ULAB.
The Department of Media Studies and Journalism of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB, http://www.ulab.edu.bd) will organize a forum entitled “The Making of Banglapedia” on June 30, 2011 (Thursday) from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at ULAB campus B seminar room. Prof. Sirajul Islam, President of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, will be the main speaker of the forum. He has served as the Chief Editor of Banglapedia – the National Encyclopedia of Bangladesh.”
During the forum, Prof. Islam is expected to answer the following questions: What was the purpose of Banglapedia? How did it come about?; How were the entries selected for Banglapedia? What was the method for selection?; How did the Banglapedia team ensure the accuracy of the entries? How did they conduct cross checking?; What was the manpower behind the project? What are the backgrounds of the scholars involved in Banglapedia?; and How can academics, researchers and students be benefited by Banglapedia?
