Social Welfare Club observing World Health Day (7 April) focusing on creating awareness on Thalassamia. As it is a blood transmitted disease and the student of collages and Universes are the target group we have planned to focus the issue.
SWC is arranging a Photo exhibition focusing on the issue form 3 April to 7 April. The renowned photographer Noor Alam is working on the issues from last couple of years. His photos will be exhibited. Zaid Islam, photographer from The Independent, is with us as the curator. ULAB Pro-VC Prof. Imran Rahman and Nasir Ali Mamun, renowned portrait photographer will open the event.
There will be a one hour seminar on creating awareness among the students on the closing day (7 April). Dr. Wakar A. Khan, Thalassemia specialist Head of Thalassamia depatment of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Mr. Mustafizur Rahman, Advisor of Bangladesh Thalassemia Hospital will be the speakers of the seminar and Kamrun Nahar Mukula, Thalassemia patient and presently Thalassemia counselor will share his experiences.
During the exhibition SWC is also planning to do a free blood grouping program with the support of Thalassemia Hospital and a blood screening for Thalassemia will also be done.
