Meeting to explore a new project on “Gender in Development”

Dr. Rathana Peou, Deputy Director (ISD) who has worked with the Embassy of Spain previously in matters related to Gender and Development, has prepared a proposal to study the situation of sex workers in Bangladesh, in view of a project aiming to enhance their situation, i.e. if something further can be done about it.

The next meeting on this research proposal will take place at the Embassy of Spain (12, Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Gulshan 2, Dhaka) next November 22 2010 at 10 am. The ideas from the meeting will be presented in Madrid, with an aim to get support as a new project.

The focus point of Development Cooperation of the Embassy of Spain is “Gender in Development”. Within this scope of activities, Embassy of Spain (Dhaka) have been planning the possibility of presenting to headquarters a proposition to finance a study on the situation of sex workers in Bangladesh, in view of a project aiming to enhance their situation. A number of activities and contacts have already been done in this direction.
